LendingTree is an online lending marketplace that connects users with multiple lenders based on their specific needs ranging from auto insurance to mortgage refinancing. As a Product Design Consultant under Berkeley Innovation, our group was tasked with reimagining the mortgage refinance process.
Disrupt and Reimagine the Mortgage Refinance Process
Overview
As a product design consultant, our group was presented with the question of “How might we create a refinance process that’s easy to understand and keeps the consumer in the “know?”. To answer this question, I led the research sprint and was largely responsible for interview construction and affinity mapping to find actionable pain points and journeys.
Result
While our final prototypes are protected by our NDA, we are still able to share the process and steps leading up to mid and hi-fidelity prototypes. Based on user research, we identified that a human connection was at the crux of the refinance process and thus, we framed our final solution as a “dating app” between the mortgage lender and the user.
